Cluster BombsGermany ratified the Convention on the prohibition of cluster bombs. According to the document, prohibited the manufacture, storage, use and proliferation of these weapons.

This information was published by Deputy Foreign Minister – Gernot Erler in Germany at the eve of a two-day international conference on cluster munitions. According to him, in the coming days, the relevant documents will be submitted to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Recall, that a convention to ban cluster munitions was adopted in 2008 in Dublin. By now, the document signed by 98 nations. In order for the Convention turned into force and became legally binding, it is necessary to have ratified at least by 30 countries. Germany became the 11 country, that are not only signed but also ratified the convention.

Recall that did not signed the Convention: Russia, USA, Pakistan, China, Israel and India, which have the largest stockpiles of cluster bombs.
