84501Yemen authorities have arrested the person responsible for financing operations of al-Qaeda in this country and in neighboring Saudi Arabia. This is a Saudian named Hassan Hussein Alwan. He was captured two days ago in the province of Marib in eastern Yemen.

The Yemeni unit of al-Qaeda periodically organizes terrorist attacks in the country, which have become targets of foreign tourists and diplomats, government agencies and the oil infrastructure. Recently, the Western press reported, that many leaders of al-Qaeda moved from Pakistan to Yemen, where expect to find more secured shelter. In response to these messages Yemen authorities have stated, that their country – not the best refuge for terrorists, because Yemen is actively included in the international fight against terrorism.
