kgbThe Bulgarian Commission for the declassification of documents and the disclosure of names of citizens of Bulgaria, which cooperated with the Committee of State Security and intelligence agencies of the Bulgarian People’s Army, published a list of journalists Bulgarian media in the past collaborated with the secret police.

The list, published on the website on 3 August, included 102 journalists, including, according to the Sofia News Agency, owner of Focus News Krasimir Uzunov, head of TV BBT Petar Mandzhukov, owner of Darik Radio Radosvet Radev, as well as several other well-known journalists and TV.

In the list there also was music editor of the Bulgarian National Radio Jordan Georgiev. In an interview with the radio station Ekho Moskvy Georgiev refuted the fact of their cooperation with the KGB and expressed his intention to shortly apply to the commission to clarify the situation.

Score Board reviewed 2366 people from 273 media – both public and private (in this list, however, does not include newspapers). According to Focus News, referring to the chairman of the commission Evtima Kostadinova, vetting of the media will continue. According to her, the fall will begin verification of newspaper journalists.

The Committee for State Security of Bulgaria performed a similar function with the KGB: the staff involved in foreign intelligence, counterintelligence, internal security and ideological work with different segments of the population.
