Iranian scientists have been able to successfully clone a calf, sends local TV Channel Press TV. This is the first case of cloning the animal at the Middle East.
Reported, that the newborn calf was born in Isfahan city and was named Bonyan. Also, it is expected, that in the next few days, will appear one more cloned calf.
In late 2005, Iranian scientists have promised, that the first clone of an animal in the country will be emerged in early 2006. In August 2006, at the first was cloned sheep, but lived only a few minutes. In September the same year in Iran, the second cloned sheep was born.
Earlier, senior Shiite clerics in the Islamic Republic had made the religious requirement, which gave permission to conduct experiments for cloning animals.
