In a world, suffering from hunger every six of people on Earth, or more than 1 billion of people at all. These data revealed the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN.
According to the figures, the rate of 11% over last year’s data, when the total number of hungry people on board less than 1,8 thousand calories a day, the world’s estimated 915 million
The main reasons for the significant increase in the number of hungry people – the global economic crisis and high food prices.
Almost all of these people live in growing countries where food prices were going down more slowly, than in developed countries. In particular, most of all hungry people live in the Asia-Pacific region – about 642 million people. In the African countries located south of the Sahara desert – 265 million of hungry people, representing about 32% of the total population in the region.
In developed countries the number of hungry people is much less – about 15 million people.
