The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) found traces of enriched uranium produced artificially in nuclear facilities in the Syrian capital of Damascus.
Confidential report of the agency: in a small nuclear reactor used for training purposes, were found traces of radioactive material that had not previously declared by Syrian authorities.
IAEA has found traces of uranium on the spot a suspicious object in the Syrian desert, which was destroyed by Israeli bombers in 2007. U.S. intelligence suggested, that the Israeli aircraft in fact bombed a nuclear reactor under construction, destined for the production of weapons-grade plutonium. Syria claims that it was a conventional military facility.
Syria has officially limited nuclear program, which is concentrated around scientific research, medical and industrial purposes. However, the western countries there is a suspicion that Damascus may hide some nuclear development for military purposes. There is no official evidence, that Syria possesses technologies for nuclear weapons.
