MiG-29 crashed in Serbia, two people died

mig 29“In the vicinity of Belgrade, occurred crash of the Serbian MiG-29 fighter aircraft, which killied two people”, this is what the Defense Ministry of Serbia announced today.

The incident occurred near a military airfeield Batajnica. The pilot ejected during the crash and after the landing had been sent to the Belgrade military hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Another victim of the accident was a Serbian soldier, who got under the falling aircraft. Another soldier received minor injuries. The reasons for the collapse is not yet clear.

This aircraft, was one of five MiG-29, which are on duty at the armament of the Air Force of Serbia. This is the remaining part of the 16 MIG’s, which were purchased from Soviet Union back in 1987. Recently, the State has invested about 20 million dollars in upgrading the MiG aircraft.
