Pakistan’s army announced that it is fully vybila the Taliban from Mingory, the actual capital of Swat Valley.
This told the British representative of the Pakistani television channel command, Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas (Athar Abbas). However, he noted that small pockets of resistance on the outskirts of Mingory still remain.
In early May 2009 Pakistan Army has begun large-scale military campaign against the Taliban in the Swat valley (north-west of Pakistan). According to the latest UN information, there are killed hundreds of civilians (still unknown to even approximate figures) and nearly two million refugees fled the region.
Athar Abbas in an interview with AFP said that it was a victory over the Taliban in Mingore, as in the rest of the valley campaign is not over. Military experts predict that suppress resistance to the Taliban in the mountains of Swat, where militants are many well-fortified bases, it would be very difficult.
