Namibian Minister of Defense was suspended in connection with corruption scandal

Hifikepunye PohambaPresident of Namibia Hifikepunye Pohamba, suspended the Minister of Defense, General Martin Shalla. The reason for this decision was the corruption scandal surrounding attempts of Chinese company “Nuktek” to sell Namibia batch scanners, used for defense purposes.

The fact, that corruption has not yet been proven, but officials have already indicated the presence in the “suspicious serious moments.” According to another Namibian Minister – Albert Kawana, M. Shalla suspension “will help the investigation.”

Namibia is a state in western Africa, bordered by Angola, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa. On the west washed by the Atlantic Ocean. Population – 2.1 million people.
