Patients in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo found a form of influenza A H1N1 distinct from the old one. According to the scientists and scientific research institute under the Secretary of Health, comparing samples of the virus from the United States and Sao Paulo revealed in the Brazilian version of mutation of the protein responsible for entry of the virus in human cells. Scientists hope to use the discovery for vaccine development.

As previously reported, mutation processes in protein gemagglyutinin discovered, scientists led by Professor Yoshihiro Kavaoka from the Institute of Medical Sciences at the University of Tokyo, in analyzing the strains of influenza virus A H1N1, known as «pig influenza».

In their view, due to changes in the virus, it may be able for more rapid spread among humans, and will actively infect cells of the body.
