07518122629_worldhealthorganizationWorld Health Organization (WHO) has declared an influenza pandemic – the first time in 40 years. This measure was adopted because of the increase in the number infected with the virus A (H1N1) in the United States, Australia, Europe, South America and Asia.

In a statement, which was sent to the countries – members of the WHO, the organization announced, that it has increased the level of the epidemic of influenza, from 5 th to 6 th. This means that the epidemic started in the world’s disease – a pandemic. This decision was taken after an emergency meeting of the Organization of the UN health.

Only during the last day in Europe identified 91 new cases of human influenza virus A (H1N1). Of these, 75 are registered in the UK, 8 – in Germany, and 2 – in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, and 1 – in Ireland, Romania, Greece and Iceland. This is shown in the report of the European Center for Prevention and Disease Control. In addition, 10 new cases were registered in China. Among patients mostly students and children, returning to the country from the United States.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) on 9 June 2009., 73 countries, 26 thousand 563 registered cases of influenza A (H1N1), 140 people died.
