The painting which is considered as the first work of Michelangelo

In the museum “Metropolitan” in New York put a painting, which is considered the first of the legendary Michelangelo Buonarotti. Disputes over the painting “Torment of Saint Anthony” have been going 400 years. Some believe, that this is the first work of Italian artist, written by him at the age of 12 – 13 years.

Opponents also believe, this theory – it is not made by hand of Michelangelo, as his demons are very abstract. But their opponents cite a series of biographies, which explains how the young artist getting ready to work on the “torment of St. Anthony.”

Torment of St. Anthony “Michelangelo – this is a copy of “Temptations of St. Anthony” the German artist Martin Shongauer. Both works are exhibited in a museum close by, so that visitors can compare them. The exhibition first paintings of Michelangelo, by the way, will continue in the “Metropolitan” until early September.
