In Spain, police, in two raids seized 5 tons of hashish, 23 people were arrested. The first operation carried out in May in the southern province of Malaga, was confiscated 2.7 tons of drugs. Police also arrested 17 suspects.
Drug traffickers allegedly transporting hashish across the Strait of Gibraltar by helicopter under cover of a dummy company, providing services in photography from the air.
In another raid in Catalonia in the north-east of the country, law enforcement officials seized 2.5 tons of hashish and arrested 6 people. Drugs were hidden in the chicken farm.
According to the U.S. Department of State, Spain is Europe’s largest consumer of drugs such as cocaine and hashish. In addition, the country is one of the main transit points to the supply of drugs from South and Central America. One in five European cocaine users living in Spain, and 3% of the population regularly use the drug.
