German Economics Minister Karl Theodor Gutenberg stated that the Italian Fiat auto manufacturer changed his original application for the purchase of German automakers Opel, owned by General Motors, and made it more attractive.
According to the Minister, other companies interested in buying Opel, might follow the example of Fiat. “We see a willingness to negotiate with all parties”, – stressed the Minister.
Previously it was thought that the most interesting application was for the purchase of Opel, filed by Canadian-Russian consortium led by the auto manufacturer Magna.
Remember, some of the possible bidders for the purchase of analysts includes Opel Fiat, the Canadian auto components manufacturer Magna International, acting in partnership with a group of GAS and Sberbank of Russia, the European association of dealers of Opel, as well as the American company to buy problem assets of Ripplewood Holdings LLC.
It was expected that a new investor of Opel will be known next week, as General Motors after 1 June may be bankrupt in the United States.
