France will provide $ 2 billion, as today adopted by the heads of the “Big Eight” (G8) support program for agriculture for the world’s poorest countries. This statement was made today, speaking to the outcome of the summit in Italy, by French President – Nicolas Sarkozy.
Recall, previously learned, that the leaders of the G8 agreed today to provide in the next few years 20 billion dollars on agricultural development for the world’s poorest countries. Originally planned, that this would be amount to 10-15 billion dollars
We know, that out of these funds up to $ 3.5 billions will be allocated over the next three years, by the U.S. government.
Commenting the decision by the leaders of the largest economies in the world, African presidents have already managed to say, that expected more from the G8. “We can not say, that this is enough. But there, at least, there are the concrete actions”, – said the President of the Republic of South Africa – Jacob Zuma.
Recall, that a summit of G8 (USA, UK, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Canada) was held in Italy from 8 to 10 of July 2009.
