The Ministry of Finance of the United States has imposed sanctions on an Iranian registered at Kish island “Hong Kong Electronics”, which, according to U.S. authorities, was involved in illegal activities related to the missile program of North Korea. The assets and bank accounts of Iranian companies in the United States had to be frozen, also introduced a ban on dealings with the U.S. business.
The official United States report by the Ministry of Finance indicated, that the Hong Kong Electronics involved in activities related to the illegal proliferation of missile technology for DPRK. According to Washington, the company has acted in the interests of the North Korean bank Tanchon Commercial Bank Corporation and Korea Mining Development Trading Corporation (KOMID), transferring illegally “millions of dollars” in 2007.
Recall, that the UN Security Council after North Korea carried out on 25 May this year second nuclear test, came out a resolution introducing stricter sanctions against that country for the continuation of its nuclear missile program. A ban on exports for North Korea of all types of weapons, as well as a ban on the import of the DPRK all weapons except for small arms. The new Security Council resolution also called upon United Nations Member States to conduct an inspection of suspicious marine, air and ground cargo, which go to North Korea or from it. The Security Council has allowed to inspect North Korean ships in international waters, but without the use of force.
